Canine Carrot Crunchy Biscuits

We are always looking for healthier foods to eat and this should apply to your dog too. Why not try these Canine Carrot Crunchy dog biscuits as an alternative treat for your dog.

If you make them very small you can use them as training treats and carry a few in your pocket when you go out for a walk.

They are so easy to make and will last a couple of weeks in an airtight container in the fridge.

Ingredients

225 g (8 oz) raw carrots

225 ml (8 fl oz) water

450 g (1 lb) rolled oats

You can half all these ingredients if you want to make a smaller batch.

Method

Depending on your equipment you can either grate the carrots or chop them up fairly small and then blend them in a blender. Either way will work fine but the blending method makes a smoother dough. (and there is more washing up !)

If you have used the blender add the water to the carrots to make a sort of “smoothy” and then add this mixture into a mixing bowl with the oats.

If you have grated your carrots just add the water, grated carrots and oats straight into a mixing bowl.

Mix together thoroughly. You may need to use your hands for this bit.

Roll your mixture out onto a clean surface. About 1cm (1/2 inch) for biscuits.

Cut whatever shapes you fancy. There are some really fun cutter shapes on the market, but your dog wont really mind.

Bake in the oven at 190 degrees (gas mark 5) for 25-30 minutes.

If you are going to make them into small treats you are better making small balls about the size of a grape and reducing the heat a little. (Be aware, if you have grated the carrots rather than blending these are more likely to crumble than the biscuit shapes)

Leave them to cool before serving.

These are perfectly safe for human consumption. but don’t let the dog know you have been eating their biscuits 🙂

If you are feeling creative, why not treat yourself to some fun dog cookie cutters.
