Right in the centre
Right by the train station, Halfway House is a wonderful little pub that you and your pooch can pop into for a pint of Scottish ale or a malt whisky. The staff are very friendly and you’re sure to find something delicious on their reasonably priced menu.
For a lavish dining experience with your dog, try The Abbotsford. The Edwardian pub is full of cask ales and a fantastic Scottish menu for you to enjoy. Or, if you’re more interested in the Victorians than the Edwardians, try the fantastic Kay’s Bar with its delicious lunch menu and tempting drinks menu. You’ll also love Cloisters, a former church which now serves real ales and delicious pub grub.
For a more relaxed atmosphere, you could try Café Habana, The Holyrood 9A, The Bow Bar, The Cambridge Bar, and the Stockbridge Tap. All are dog friendly and have fantastic reviews from other dog owners about their friendliness, service and menu choice. Auld Hoose also gives you large portions and fantastic atmosphere.
The Cumberland Bar also has a charming beer garden for you to sit in and enjoy your meal when the weather is good. Or, you can recline on the comfortable sofas in the Regent Bar. You could also catch some live music with your dog in Hamiltons.
BrewDog could hardly turn you and your four-legged friend away! They offer sensational craft beers and homemade pizzas, a match made in heaven! Perfect after a fun day of exploring the city with your pet.
A little further out
If you’re not within a mile of the city centre, there are still fantastic dog friendly pubs that you and your dog can enjoy together. Henricks offer locally sourced food and outdoor seating, Hampton Hotel is right by Roseburn public park, and the Lioness of Leith has a selection of world beers on tap.
For classic pub grub, try The Earl of Marchmont, The Fountain, or The Espy. Good Companions Roadhouse serves fantastic food and has great music too. If you like live music, you should also try The Village.
Nobles Bar offers something really special. The Victorian café-bar has stunning stained-glass windows and a nautical, old world charm. They have seasonal menus, so you’re in for a new treat each time you and your dog visit.
