Coatham Wood, situated near Stockton, in-between Long Newton and Egglescliffe on Long Newton Lane, is a newly planted community woodland, with the first trees planted in 1999.
A fantastic young woodland with a mix of broadleaved and conifer trees, ponds and meadows makes it a great habitat for all kinds of wildlife.
There are 2 way marked routes and an orienteering course to help you find your way around the site or just wander along the many mown rides.
The wood also has the countries first permanent Dog activity course with hurdles, tunnels and balance logs!
There is a small car park just off Long-Newton Lane.
Horse riding is by permit only.
The dog activity trail starts from the main carpark on Long Newton Lane. You start following the yellow walk arrows and you will see the first activity the tunnels close to the carpark. The trail follows the yellow arrows up to the table top activity and then returns on the green.
