Fountains Abbey is local for us and such a lovely walk round the grounds. Although dogs aren’t allowed in any of the buildings, they are allowed in the ruins and the rest of the surrounding area.
It has a cafe and toilets in the visitors centre.
Depending on the time of year, you can see deer but as dogs have to stay on the lead it isn’t much of a problem. There are walking routes sign-posted or you can choose to just wander round the grounds on your own path.
The Abbey is beautiful and there are always dog walkers so it’s nice to be able to socialise your dogs as well as the owners!
Highly recommend for a day out and a gentle walk to get the air into your lungs.
