Although the title park normally makes you think of paths and manicured gardens, Holyrood park is actually 650 acres of rugged scottish landscape. Complete with hills, lochs, glens, cliffs, grassy slopes and wild gorse bushes, this is an incredible place to walk your dog. A few minutes walk from the old town, about a mile east of the castle and adjacent to the Scottish Parliament building you can roam for miles and access it from several places.
There are well maintained paths up to Arthurs seat, where the views are spectacular. It’s steep, but worth the climb. You will come across small lochs and the ruddy-coloured Salisbury Crags, which are a series of 150 foot cliff faces.
It can be a bit blustery in places, but any dog would love it here.
